David Oyelowo will star in and executive produce Showtime’s adaptation of the novel “The President Is Missing” by Bill Clinton and James Patterson, the network announced on Tuesday.

In the project, which has been ordered to pilot, Oyelowo will play a powerless and politically aimless Vice President who unexpectedly becomes President halfway into his administration’s first term, despite his every wish to the contrary.

Per Showtime, “He walks right into a secret, world-threatening crisis, both inside and outside the White House. Attacked by both friends and enemies alike, with scandal and conspiracy swirling around him, he is confronted with a terrible choice: keep his head down, toe the party line and survive, or act on his stubborn, late-developing conscience and take a stand.”

Len Wiseman Set To Direct Female-Centric ‘John Wick’ Spinoff ‘Ballerina’
Exclusive: Lionsgate has set Len Wiseman to direct Ballerina, an action spinoff of the lucrative John Wick franchise.

Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family. The picture is on a fast track, with a script by Shay Hatten, whose credits include the Zack Snyder-directed Army of the Dead for Netflix, and John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum.

The picture is produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, with Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski also involved in producing roles. The character was glimpsed in the last John Wick film and it isn’t clear at this point whether Reeves will be in the film though if he does it will be a cameo. Unity Phelan is in the credits of Parabellum under the character Ballerina, but I am not sure who will be the star of the spinoff.

‘RBG’ Filmmakers Cook Up Next Project: A Julia Child Documentary (Exclusive)

‘RBG’ Filmmakers Cook Up Next Project: A Julia Child Documentary (Exclusive)
After charting Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s rise to the top of the legal world, the filmmaking team behind “RBG” is reuniting to tell the story of a different kind of trailblazer: Julia Child, the television chef and cookbook author who taught America how to eat.

Co-directors Betsy West and Julie Cohen will examine Child’s unconventional life, one that saw her seize the spotlight with the 1961 publication of her best-seller “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” when she was nearly 50 years old. She then brought her love of fine food to the masses with WGBH television program “The French Chef,” which was syndicated nationally by PBS, and later, in appearances on “Good Morning America.”

“She was larger than life, literally,” West told Variety days before flying to France to conduct interviews for the film. “She was 6’2” or 6’3” and kind of clunky in a way, but also totally self-confident and funny and authentic,

TV Ratings: ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 10 Premiere Sinks to Series Low
It seems to be the same story every year, but “The Walking Dead” returned for its tenth season on Sunday down significantly in the Live+Same Day ratings.

The show fell 34% in total viewers from its season 9 premiere to 4 million, and declined 42% among adults 18-49 to a 1.4 rating, as well as 35% in AMC’s preferred 25-54 demographic. The previous series lows in the first two metrics were delivered by the penultimate episode of season 9, which was watched by 4.15 million total viewers and posted a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demo.

However, that decline technically isn’t as steep as for last year’s premiere,

Karen Pendleton Dies: Original Mouseketeer On Disney’s ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’ Was 73
Karen Pendleton, one original Mouseketeers from The Mickey Mouse Club in the 1950s, died Sunday of a heart attack in Fresno, CA. She was 73. Author and Disney historian Lorraine Santoli announced the news today.

Known for her shoulder-length blond curls, Pendleton was among the youngest of the original Mouseketeers. She appeared on The Mickey Mouse Club during its entire first run from 1955-59, one of only nine to do so among a regularly changing cast. She famously was paired with Carl “Cubby” O’Brien in the episode-closing “Now it’s time to say goodbye” song. Because of their tender ages, Pendleton and O’Brien originally were “Meeseketeers.” Both were part of what was referred to as the “Red Team” of Mouseketeers, which included Annette Funicello.

Produced by Walt Disney Productions, The Mickey Mouse Club was a variety show for kids and starring kids. Each day featured a different theme, including “fun with music,

Nick Jonas Joins ‘The Voice’ as Coach for Season 18
There’s gonna be a new coach in one of the big red chairs on “The Voice” next spring.

The new role follows on Jonas’ appearance on NBC’s songwriting competition show “Songland” earlier this summer.

‘Search Party’ Moves From TBS To HBO Max For Season 3, Gets Season 4 Renewal By Streamer

‘Search Party’ Moves From TBS To HBO Max For Season 3, Gets Season 4 Renewal By Streamer
TBSSearch Party is becoming an HBO Max original. The upcoming third season of TBS’ cult comedy series will air on the upcoming WarnerMedia streaming platform, which also has ordered a fourth season of single-camera series.

Season 3 of Search Party, starring Alia Shawkat, Meredith Hagner, Brandon Micheal Hall, John Early and John Reynolds,, will debut on HBO Max at launch in Spring of 2020, two years after it was originally ordered by TBS.

A critical darling, the dark comedy about a group of privileged, self-absorbed twenty-somethings covering up a murder, was never well suited for a linear network like TBS.

Sensing that, TBS brass gave the series a multi-platform launch, which included a binge release of the entire first season over Thanksgiving week, which drew more than 1.1M viewers per episode across all platforms over five days, showing strong appeal to millennials, with 18% of its audience in the adults 18-34 demo.

Does ‘Joker’ Have a Post-Credits Scene?
If there’s anything that is not really up for debate regarding “Joker” it’s that it’s certainly the most talked-about movie of the fall movie season thus far. It seems like everybody has some thoughts about the controversial origin story. And in this case, all that discourse actually is translating into money at the box office.

Though the film’s critical reception has cooled considerably since it garnered a lengthy standing ovation in Venice, moviegoers are showing up in droves to see what this thing is all about and get in on the discussion.

So “Joker” is already a hit, but how big of a hit will it be? Could it reach the level of “Logan,” which grossed $226 million domestic and $619 million worldwide? That will depend on whether the popular response to the film falls on the side of the Venice Film Festival attendees who gave the film

Collette, who plays an influencer of some sorts, added, “also, talking over each other and improvising… it was so great to have that freedom.” The scene went viral when the “Knives Out” trailer was posted, depicting a dysfunctional family coming together following the death of the family’s patriarch, played by Christopher Plummer. 20 Actors Digitally De-Aged on Film, From Brad Pitt to Robert De Niro (Photos)

            • The Wrap
All the rage right now in CGI is digital de-aging, the act of making an actor look decades younger (or sometimes older) on screen by digitally smoothing out wrinkles and tightening jaw lines. Why hope that a young, untested actor can be convincing as a lookalike Samuel L. Jackson when we have the real thing right here? Imagine photoshopping a picture for a magazine, but now do that over and over for every scene of a movie. It’s not a complicated process, and the technology hasn’t advanced drastically dating back to the first instance in 2006, but the VFX artists have matured to the point that filmmakers can go entire movies with a de-aged actor rather than just a few scenes. Here are just a few actors who have gone under the digital knife.
