            ‘Saturday Night Live’ Charts Return Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
            Saturday Night Live” will return this weekend, but it won’t be “live from New York” in the way its viewers have come to expect.

            NBC said that the venerable late-night series, which has been off the air for several weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic, would air original content on Satuday, April 11, with material produced by a staff working remotely. Pieces are likely to include a “Weekend Update” segment and other material from cast members. NBC offered no details about a host or musical guest.

            Jerry Seinfeld Sets Second Netflix Standup Special
            Jerry Seinfeld will debut a new standup special May 5 on Netflix, the streamer announced Friday.

            Entitled “Jerry Seinfeld: 23 Hours to Kill,” the new hour-long event sees the renowned comedian returning to the Beacon Theatre in New York City to deliver more sharp takes on everyday life.

            This is Seinfeld’s second standup special with the streamer. He signed a multi-faceted production deal with Netflix in 2017 that guaranteed two original standup specials. The first, “Jerry Before Seinfeld,” launched in September 2017 and featured a mix of modern-day standup sets with previously never-before-seen materials from his life, including videos from his childhood, legal pads filled with jokes he has written since 1975, and more. That special picked up an Emmy nomination for variety special directing.

            Seinfeld also has “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” on the streamer. The most recent season of this series premiered in June 2019 and featured conversations with other legendary comedians from Eddie Murphy to Martin Short,

            ‘Tiger King’ Nabbed Over 34 Million U.S. Viewers in First 10 Days, Nielsen Says (Exclusive)
            Tiger King” has clawed its way into the national psyche to become one of Netflix’s biggest-ever original shows.

            The docuseries reached a U.S. TV audience of 34.3 unique viewers within the first 10 days of its release (March 20-29), according to Nielsen estimates. That topped season 2 of Netflix hit “Stranger Things,” which had 31.2 million unique viewers in its first 10 days, and was within shouting distance of “Stranger Things 3,” which drew 36.3 million over the comparable 10-day span, the measurement firm said.

            On an average per-minute basis, “Tiger King” pulled in an audience of 19.0 million among U.S. viewers from March 20-29, Nielsen reported.

            A reboot of “Doogie Howser, M.D.” is in the works at Disney Plus, Variety has learned from sources.

            The new show will focus on a 16-year-old half-Asian, half-white female lead who works as a doctor in Hawaii. The working title for the new show is “Doogie Kealoha, M.D.”

            The reboot hails from writer and executive producer Kourtney Kang. Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar will also executive produce along with Dayna and Jesse Bochco. 20th Century Fox Television will produce, with the studio also having produced the original series. Kang, Kasdan, and Mar are all under overall deals at the studio.

            Space Force” centers on Mark R. Naird (Carell), a four-star general and decorated pilot who dreams of running the Air Force but instead finds himself tapped to lead the newly-formed sixth branch of the U.S. Armed Forces: the titular Space Force.

            Kudrow plays Maggie Naird, Mark’s wife who is described as a woman who “sublimated parts of herself to her husband’s career for two decades.

            Ahead of next week’s time slot shift, ABC’s Station 19 this Thursday fired up 7.5 million total viewers — its largest audience ever — and a 1.3 rating (read recap), up two tenths in the demo to equal its series high.

            Leading out of that, Grey’s Anatomy‘s ersatz season finale (7.3 mil/1.4, average TVLine reader grade “B+”) hit a one-year high in audience while steady/leading the night in the demo. How to Get Away With Murder (3 mil/0.6, read recap) was steady.

            Mixed martial arts league Ufc, a subsidiary of Endeavor, has decided to postpone Ufc 249, originally scheduled for April 18, after sports cabler ESPN asked the organization not to go forward with its pay-per-view event.

            “While the organization was fully prepared to proceed with Ufc 249, ESPN has requested the postponement of the event and subsequent bouts until further notice in light of the Covid-19 pandemic,” announced Ufc on Thursday in a brief statement. “Ufc looks forward to resuming the full live events schedule as soon as possible.”
